Are We There Yet?! (Part 1)

It has taken a while to put this post up but you can imagine why. I spent some time reading my delivery story on MoMo before starting this post and it brought back so many emotions. You can read those posts here, here, here, and here. Phew!

Besides being able to share my world with my readers, I think writing is pretty amazing for my own pleasure. The fact that I'm able to go back and read my own experiences is pretty awesome. I think everyone should write about certain life events. I had several diaries prior to beginning my blog and it's always interesting to go back and read through them. Trying to remember certain events is not the same as reading about the type of emotions it evoked at the particular time. With that said, this post is not about blogging or diaries... Lol. Lets get to it.

My delivery story for Demilade is very much similar to that of Morayo's in some ways. Leading up to my due date, which was August 9th, I began having conversations with my mom. She wanted to be present for the delivery. It was going to be hard to determine when she could come be with us because of her work schedule. Considering MoMo was a vaginal delivery, there was no telling when our boy would show up. We began to look at the option of inducing and decided on the first weekend in August. Unfortunately, my mom called me and said she wasn't going to be able to make that date. I was pretty disappointed because I had my mind already set on having our baby that weekend. She told me to just wait until the baby was ready and I thought to myself hmmm... I didn't want another MoMo situation. MoMo came at 41 weeks!

If I was going to be induced, we picked the 4th of August. My doctor was on call that day and he would possibly be the one delivering the baby, which was absolutely what I wanted. However, on the 4th, I would only be 38 weeks and 6 days. If our baby decided to pull a MoMo, I would have to wait TWO MORE WEEKS?! Look... Pregnancy is fun, great, and exciting but when you're ready to be over with it, you just are. I was ready! I spoke to hubby about how I was feeling, and I also let my mom know what I decided. When I went in for my weekly check up that week, I told my doctor to make arrangements as planned. He went ahead and scheduled for us to check in at 6:00a.m on August 4th, which was a Sunday morning. The anticipation was building up foreal now!

Together Time!

Currently I am in Atlanta with my family for some time during my maternity leave. Hubby will be travelling a lot over the next couple of weeks so we figured I come stay with my family and enjoy some help. It has been a great time so far!

Hubby came in town for a couple of days and we spent some quality(much needed) time together! On Friday night, we went to the movies and saw "Lee Daniels' The Butler", which by the way was an AMAZING movie! It tells the story of a White House Butler who served eight American presidents over three decades.  I'll recommend it if you are yet to see it. Forest Whitaker played the butler and Oprah Winfrey played his wife. Excellent performance by both and I'd be really surprised if they don't pick up Oscar nominations.

On Saturday night, I took hubby out on a date for his birthday. We went to an upscale seafood restaurant for dinner in Midtown Atlanta and afterwards we went to the W hotel and spent some time on the rooftop bar. It was great to have that alone time with my baby because its been a while since we've done anything fun together. It also felt really good being out! I'm so thankful to my family for watching the kids 2 nights in a row!

Saturday night...

I look forward to more times like this with my man. Speaking of, hubby's team surprised him at work for his birthday plus a baby shower right before he came in town. Instead of gifts for the baby, they got us gift cards to three of the local restaurants in town. The point is for us to find some time alone together and go have fun without the babies. Nice twist huh? I totally look forward to it!

They also got these for him. Lovely!

Hope you are having a great week!

Happy Birthday To My Man!

It's hubby's birthday today! Time is passing by very quickly because I feel like I put up a post about his birthday last year like 4 months ago!

Surprise Shower!

I meant to put this post up last week, but of course, I never got to it. On July 20th, the Saturday after hubby got back in town, I was surprised with a wonderful baby shower by our church family. And boy they got me good!

So some weeks back, I caught wind that they were planning a shower for me. I came to realize that it was going to be a surprise and clearly I wasn't supposed to know. Well, things got quiet after a while, but I still figured they would have one. Why? Because I'm Lauret! Lol. On a more serious note, they had a shower for a lady at church who was also expecting and I knew they were planning showers for both of us. Side note: The lady had her very handsome baby boy already. She is one of the really cool people I've met since I moved to good ol Bentonville. Love her family. Back to me... :) More time passed, plus hubby was in and out of the country so nothing happened. Meanwhile, they were planning my shower the whole time! Funny thing is, the shower took place at our pastor's home! So for two weeks while I was there, his wife was having conversations and one of the planners even visited to talk through things and I had no idea! Thought I paid more attention than that!

I was back home the Friday night hubby got back in town but they got me by telling me I was coming for a women's meeting. There was a program sent out and they had me on to do the closing prayers, which turned out to be my thank you speech after the event. Lol. Hubby did really good too keeping it a secret. I signed up to bring fruits for refreshments at the meeting, and he offered to take me, so we stopped by the store on our way and bought the fruits. He took it a little too far though because we also stopped by Chick-Fil-A before heading to the "meeting". There was no food at home, considering we'd both been away for two weeks and I was really hungry after waking up right before the meeting. Point I'm trying to get to is that I barely ate at my shower! And there was a lot of good food! Lol

I had a really great time even though I was still battling the horrible cold I caught from MoMo. We were showered with lots of gifts too! Well, lots of diapers, wipes, and clothes. I started to make a registry when hubby suggested I should a while back, but then I stopped because I realized I had everything already. Having your babies back to back pays off. Lol! I'm waiting to receive the pictures but here is a picture of the cake I took with my phone...

In related news, today at work, my team also had a shower for me! It really blew my mind because I didn't know it was going to be as elaborate as it turned out to be. I thought everyone would just sign one card, put money together and get me one gift card, we would have cake and punch and then go back to work. It didn't happen that way... well besides the going back to work part. Lol. They had decorations and hubby and I sat down and opened several gifts. I really felt the love. Here are some pictures...

I know I say it over and over, but I really can never say it enough... I am one blessed girl. God has been too good to me and most days I'm not sure why, but I'm really thankful!

My very DEEP appreciation to my church family, coworkers, and other friends that put in their time and resources to celebrate with me. May God bless each of you abundantly. THANK YOU!!!
