Delivery Day!
My First Mother's Day!

8/16/12

My Testimony (The Conclusion)

The epidural kicked in pretty quick and even though I was contracting just about every minute, I felt NOTHING! My hubby kept his eye on the monitor the whole time to make sure everything was going well. I took a nap and when I woke up my hubby and his sister were chatting. My hubby walked over to me and all I could think about were my eyebrows!
The morning before we left the house, I handed hubby my eye pencil right after I used it. I should have known better. He was packing up a small travel pack bag and I thought he would put it in there, but heaven knows what he did with it! See… I don’t have thick full eyebrows like some people are blessed with, so I use a pencil to give me the effect I want. Anyways, we had been taking a few pictures here and there since we got to the hospital but I knew once the baby came, the picture taking would be hardcore ─ zooming in and all. After I got out the shower earlier on, I asked hubby for the eye pencil and he was ready to swear up and down that I never handed anything to him. I was upset and confused. How could I be eyebrow less today of ALL days! All the events within the past few hours made me forget about my eyebrow ordeal but as soon as I woke up and remembered, I asked my sister-in-law if she had an eye pencil. She looked through her stuff and found a black eyeliner. I usually use dark drown on my eye brows but the black liner just had to do, thanks to the wonderful man in my life!
My mom, sisters, and nephew got to the hospital a few minutes past noon and my mom requested for the doctor to come in and check me. My doctor came in the room, checked me and as she was rounding up she said “You’re a 10, get ready to push in a few minutes”. I will never forget those words. I think I felt every emotion in that moment. There I was thinking I had a few more hours and she probably would tell me I was 5 or 6cm dilated! I was going to start pushing in just a few minutes!!! She broke my water and even though it was different from how I always imagined, I didn’t care in that moment. My nurse put my bed in an upright position so that the baby would start descending. At 1:40p.m my nurses came in the room and everyone exited except for hubby, mom, and mother-in-law. I didn’t push for long at all. I really can count on my fingers and toes the number of pushes I gave! Now the whole time I’m pushing, my mother-in-law is walking back and forth praying and my mom and hubby each held my hands. My mom kept rubbing my hair, and she was coming a little too far down my forehead and the whole time all I could think was… “You are going to take away my eyebrows woman!” I was so close to saying it out loud but I didn’t want to seem vain plus I knew I would never hear the last of it so I maintained. When the baby’s head started showing, I was told to stop pushing and they called the doctor to alert her. The next thing I know, they were all telling me to stop pushing. I told them I wasn’t. I looked in the mirror in front of me that I requested and I saw my little girl push her head out on her own, turn and slide out!!! That had to be the COOLEST thing I had ever seen!!! She was out before the doctor came to the room!!!
Our daughter was born at 2:14p.m. She weighed 7lbs 10.8oz and was 19.5cm long!

I still cry whenever I think about her delivery story. I’m not sure what I ever did to receive such grace from God. He truly blessed and favored me. He answered every prayer. Everything went well from when we drove into that hospital until we left. Everyone we came in contact with favored us. I TRULY GIVE GOD ALL THE GLORY!!!  For a first delivery... it was just too sweet!!!
