Let me start by saying that one of my biggest fears prior to giving birth to my daughter was child birth. Something about it just terrified me. I wasn’t sure what part, but it just freaked me out. With that said, I had a really awesome pregnancy experience for which I am very thankful and I just wanted to share :) I think I can say that the only thing that was different about me from when I got pregnant until I delivered was my weight. I never dealt with throwing up, feeling weak, dealing with strong/overbearing smells, or any of the terrible ordeals some women have to go through. I felt great the entire time, even through planning my wedding which should have stressed me out.
On June 3rd, I got out of bed early in the morning excited. I was supposed to check in to Piedmont hospital at 4:00p.m. I was at my 41weeks mark and it was time for our little mama to be welcomed into our world. It was a Sunday morning, so we got ready for church and headed out of the house. As we drove out the driveway, we prayed that we would come back home as a family of three. The sermon was powerful! We had a guest preacher and his message was about God being "I AM". After the message, he asked us to pray and fill in the blank of what we wanted God to be to us. I closed my eyes and told God all that He was to me, but most of all, I asked him to be my great physician in the coming hours. After church, I walked up to one of the prayer ministers and told her I was going in to have my baby and she prayed with me. I started crying while she was praying. Please don’t ask why because I’m not sure myself. Ha! Good guess though would be that I was just overcome with all sorts of emotions. When I turned around, my hubby was right behind me and he shook his head when he saw my tears. Lol
It was almost 1:00p.m. We went for lunch at Atlantic station, a mixed use development with different retail, a movie theater, restaurants, condos, etc . We ate at this spot called “Yard House”. I had a burger and it was really tasty if I must say. After lunch, we walked around for a bit and then went into West Elm. It’s a furniture store my hubby loves and we always have to stop by there whenever we’re in the area. It was probably a few minutes after 3 o’clock at this point and my hubby came up with the great idea of us going to see a movie even though it was almost 4:00p.m. He figured once we got to the hospital that was it for the rest of the day and couple days to come, so why not? Lol. We got tickets to “What to Expect When You’re Expecting”. How appropriate huh? His pick not mine After that, we were off to the hospital!
