Hair Drama

So if you've read my previous posts, you will realize I had an interesting style on my head going on while on vaca. It's called crotchet braids and it's interesting for me, because it's something I'd never done before. I've blogged in the past about my relationship with my hair. I'm pretty much not a hair person meaning I will not do my own hair. Now, not because I refuse to, but because even if I tried, it just never looks right. I definitely want my hair looking great but with the least amount of stress attached for me. But, when it comes to hair, at least in my life, it goes hand in hand with stress because I rarely know what to do with it!

I love box braids but I wore those for the most part of last year. I'm not big on sew-ins and when I press my own hair, I feel like I have to get it done every other week because I can only keep it looking pretty for a week max!

Anyhow, I decided on this style thanks to seeing it on a friend of mine and LOTS of YouTube review watching to convince me. Normally when I get my hair done, I just know when it looks good and I feel great about it right away but with this one, after looking in the mirror for the first time when my wonderful braider lady got done, I was just blah. It didn't help much that there was already a jacked up story with the hair leading to this point. Allow me to explain...

In the wonderful town I reside referred to as Northwest Arkansas, there is only one beauty supply store. The owner to this beauty supply store has a reputation for being very rude. When we first moved here and hair matters came about, I was told where to go but also warned. I brushed it off thinking it couldn't be that bad and went to the store. Alas! I got the rude, nasty treatment as well and after that I promised myself never to step foot in her store again (let us not even talk about what happened... moving on). A little over two years later, I clearly ate my words. I was so ready to get this hair done, so I decided go to rude woman to get it. I got there right before she closed that night and kept going back and forth trying to figure out which hair to get. Based on all the reviews I had watched, what I saw in the store looked different. I called my friend to get her opinion but she didn't pick up right away, so I started to walk out of the store. She called right when I was at the door, so thanks to FaceTime, I quickly went back, showed it to her and she said she thought it looked okay. I picked the number of packs I needed, paid a little over 50 bucks and walked out.

I still didn't feel alright about the hair so as I drove away, I called my braider and told her I wanted to stop by to by and show her the hair. When she saw it, she confirmed it was a horrible quality and she used it on a client recently and it didn't last long. That did it for me! I just knew I wasn't putting the hair on my head. No ma'am! I was going to count my losses but my sis Juliet and mom convinced me to take the hair back and ask for an exchange the next day. I didn't even know rude woman's policy but something in be told me I would have issues returning it just based on her attitude but I went anyways. True to my thoughts, rude woman refused to collect it! I explained to her that I didn't even want my money back, she should just let me pick other stuff equal to my money because the hair was pretty much useless to me. Rude woman stood on her grounds and yeah buddy some not so Christian exchange at least on my part unraveled. I let her have it! I didn't curse her out (nope, don't have to) but I said some cruel not so nice things. I also imagined in my head smacking her with a pack or two. I'm only human. Please don't judge me.

Through all of this, I was on the phone with my sister Juliet who asked me to give the phone to the lady so she could speak to her.. I'm like why? Rude woman's phone rings as I was walking out. Come to find out my wonderful sis googled the store and called rude woman... LAAWD! I had no clue until she told me after calling me as I drove home and I had a really good laugh. Like dude... BEHT WHY? I came home and ordered my new hair online just like I should have when I thought about it in the first place. Impatience! As far as the hair goes, I did away with it.

Back to feeling blah after finishing my hair. I got on the phone with my sis Juliet and ranted to her about everything possible about the hair as I drove home.  Fast forward to the following morning! I get all dressed for work and I'm still looking several ways in the mirror trying to figure it out. I drop the babies off at school and as I walk into Mo's class, one of the kids walks up to me and says "Your hair looks kind of crazy". Y'ALL!! I can't make this up. I get on the phone with Juliet as soon as I get in the car and my ranting continued!

Funny thing is, this is one style that I got too many compliments on both from people I knew and total randoms. I also think my Caucasian brother and sisters were just really mesmerized by it, especially in these here parts. LOL! Best thing about all of this... hubby loved it! His opinion mattered the most to me :)

It's out now though! On to the next!!

I sent these photos to my family's WhatsApp group after getting in my office that morning...

That Sums It Up!

We headed back to Orlando after we got done with "Day out with Thomas". We spent the time we had left hanging out at our hotel and the surrounding area. Our hotel was right on International drive or I-drive as it is called which is basically like the heart of fun things to do and places to eat in Orlando. We also went downtown Disney and also to Boardwalk. I have combined all the photos together.

Funny story to wrap up our trip... So while in Tampa I remember a phone conversation I had with my sister Juliet. I was telling her about how I couldn't wait for Morayo and Demi to be older, at least ages 8 and 7 because then our family vacations would be a lot less stressful. You know, it's kind of adventurous going into each day and not knowing what to expect from either of them. It was also quiet funny trying to work around Demi's nap schedule. We tried to do stuff outside of the hotel either early in the day or past 3 o'clock in the evening because I tell you Oluwademilade is GON get his nap!!! I mean it's like clockwork! Come noon and dude gets made cranky and extra naughty. What's the isssue? SLEEP! Unfailingly seven days of the week he takes his nap around that time and nothing better interfere.

Anywho I brought up the phone conversation with my sis to say that a day after that conversation with her, we went across the street to a KFC to get dinner. While we were in there, a couple walked in with their kids, a boy and a girl. The kids had to be around 8 and 7 years old no lie. First of all the dad walks in holding the boy tightly around his shoulders trying to refrain him because it seemed like he was acting up. While doing this he was telling him if he didn't behave he would hurt him. The mom I guess maybe noticing me staring muffled something under her breath to the dad and he yells "I don't give a damn! You have to contain these kids!" He just seemed so frustrated. I bet they had had a long day, for crying out loud it's Disney. They got their meal and had a good dinner with the little boy behaving again. Meanwhile, all I could do is sit there and think to myself... "That is the age you're looking forward to". Oh the joys!

Some splashing at the hotel pool...

Downtown Disney...

We tried out a couple eating spots that were just great. The food trucks definitely get an A+. We also ate at a Pub one night that was really good. I don't remember the name but we sat outdoors and there was a lady  performing and one of her songs she did was "Let It Go" from the movie Frozen. Morayo absolutely loved that and sang along! The food was also delish!

Night at the pub

We ate at the Rainforest Cafe one night, well excluding Demi. He was so terrified! Every so often, there were rain forest sounds which included birds, monkeys and thunder, and the fake animals moved around and my baby just couldn't take it. Not to mention the fire show outside the cafe that just had him shook. LOL!

Downtown/Boardwalk...

Demi imitating big sis. Haha!

The guy that took this photo said something really funny before taking it. Can't even remember but hence my laughter!

Totally looking forward to our next trip!!! Memories to last a lifetime!

A Day Out With Thomas

This day had to be one of my most memorable from our trip. While we were at the museum the day before, hubby found this activity for Kids called "Day out with Thomas". I was all for it because I knew the kids would enjoy it but little did I know how much they would really enjoy it, especially Demi.

For as long as I can remember, Demi has been crazy out choo choo trains as he loves to call it. This love started from his love for the show "Thomas and Friends". He loves the show so much that he knows some of the names of the other trains. He is also able to spot the logo! I was out shopping at Homegoods one day with the kids and we were in the toy section where they also have books. Suddenly, Demi started screaming "Choo Choo train!". I look around in search of what he is screaming for but I don't see anything so I dismiss it. He gets really upset and started pointing at the bookcase and crying. I move closer to the where they have the books and take a better look. Low and behold there was a Thomas and Friends book hidden among other books and my child noticed it just by the colors and letters!! Amazing! I can't tell you how many trains hubby and I have been suckered into purchasing! We also on our own surprise him with one every once in a while. Hehe! Good thing is that he actually plays with every single one and realizes when any goes missing! He's a good Shepard I tell ya!

This place was very similar to a fairground only difference was that EVERYTHING was Thomas and Friends related! After we parked and walked up closer, you could just see Demi's eyes light ALL THE WAY UP!! And through out our almost 3 hours there  he was like that the entire time! One of my best reactions he gave was when he went up to take a picture with the train controller, Sir Topham Hatt. It was so sweet I almost cried!

THE meeting with Sir Topham Hatt

Fun Times Indeed!

Museum and a Boat Ride!

Prior to  hitting the beach, I had to go for a Brazilian Wax (Don't get me started on this. I'm TOTALLY an Advocate/Spokesperson all day err day!) which happened to be Downtown Tampa. We discovered a cool looking children's museum and decided we would bring the kids the next day and that we did do! Yeah, we didn't really have a strict itinerary for our stay. We were roll with the wind FABULOUS! Lol

We have so many pictures from the visit and the pictures I selected below really does not do any justice at all to all the activities available for the kids. If you're ever in Tampa with little ones, be sure to check out Glazer Children's Museum!

This thing really freaked me out but my baby boy was so brave!

Gosh... I've gotten so good with her hair. Who woulda thunk it?!

Playing on a playground outside the museum...

Some cool structures outside the museum..

Boat Ride Time!

Look at their faces! LOL!
