Morayo Is 4!

Morayo turned 4 last week Saturday on June 4th.

Initially we were just going to have a celebration at her school with cake and Juice boxes but we decided to do something beyond the classroom. I went straight into planning mode looking for a location but hubby presented a case on having it at home and why it would be so much fun for the kids. Yes, he really did because I wasn’t buying the idea, but for rational reasons of course. Being the control neat freak that I am, I couldn’t imagine that many kids running through the house. We came up with an idea to keep the party outdoors and I think it worked out just perfectly.

I asked Morayo what she wanted her party theme to be and without stuttering she said “Hello Kitty”. I gave her that scrunched up really? face look but she knew what she wanted and even though I asked several other times after that just to be sure, her answer remained the same. Not that there is anything wrong with Hello Kitty but I was just curious as to where it came from. She had a hello kitty doll that her cousin Izi gave her a while back but that ended up in our unending Good-Will pile. She also has a few hello kitty tutu skirts but that’s about it.

I wondered about pulling the theme together but after going into Target I realized there was a Hello Kitty section in the party area which I never noticed until that moment. I found invitations, napkins, plates, table cover plus a great outfit! It was just awesome!

We planned the party for Saturday the 4th but due to inclement weather, we moved it to Sunday the 5th and the turnout was still good! The main attraction for the party was a bouncy house but the kids played around the yard a lot too. The weather was kinda hot but I think it turned out pretty good.

I have to mention Demi was good sport through all of this. I thought he would get really sad with all the attention on Morayo but to our surprise our big boy totally understood it was all about Rayo as he loves to call her. On Sunday morning the bouncy house was delivered at 6:30am and Demi was up before Morayo so he stood with me in the living room and watched from the window as it was blown up. When they put up the Hello Kitty banner, he started screaming “That’s for Rayo mom!” and when he heard Morayo get up he began to scream for her to come to the window. “Look Rayo, that’s yours Rayo”. Oh my heart!

Four years has gone by so fast. For those of you that follow my blog (even though I barely post, forgive me!) or know me personally, you are aware of the story behind our first born. Morayo is blossoming into a very beautiful young lady. She is so smart, so outspoken yet shy. She is strong willed and knows exactly what she wants. I love how she is quick to apologize when she knows she has done something naughty. She comes to me and says “mommy I am sorry, will you talk to me?” I love her smile, her laugh, I love how she loves music and how every song that comes on is her favorite song plus how she manages to sing to the tune of every song making you wonder where in the world she learned it not knowing it could be her first time hearing it. I love how she dances. I love that she is so caring and protective especially of her little brother. I love how curious she is. I love that she wants to stay in the kitchen with me and either turn the food while I’m cooking or help take the silverware out of the dishwasher and place it in the drawer. I love how she has learned so good from her mama and cleans up her play area just the way I would. Blows my mind! I love how she’s such a daddy’s girl. I love how she makes me laugh with the silliest things she says. Recently she made me upset and I stared her down and in the process, she asked if I was looking at her because she was beautiful and couldn’t help but break down and laugh. I love our conversations about makeup and perfumes and nail polish. I love when she brushes my hair and ask if she can put it in an Elsa braid (whatever that is). I could go on and on but above all, I love that God found me worthy to be her mama and that by His Grace I get to watch her become the wonderful woman He has called her to be.

With all my life, I love you Morayo! Happy Birthday 4th Birthday Queen!

Yes there were children at the party, but I don't like to post pictures because not all parents may be cool with it :)
