Still My Paulie

Five years ago today my family excitedly awaited the arrival of out first grandchild/son and nephew! It was truly an exciting time and I can't believe it has been five years already! I didn't get to meet my nephew until about two months later during Christmas and I remember monopolizing him. I wanted to hold him from when I got up until I went to bed. Matter of fact, I think he spent many nights on my chest.

I remember taking and gathering plenty pictures all of which I put in a scrapbook and gave his parents for his first birthday. Now he is in Kindergarten and having grown conversations. He's still my Paulie though and still silly as ever.

Happy 5th Birthday Nephew. Aunty Love you long time!!!

God Bless you and Keep you. Enjoy!

Pumpkin Patch Fun

Tis' the season to take kids to a pumpkin patch! I had been looking for one in our area for a while and eventually found one thanks to Facebook. We took the kids over the weekend and they had a blast. Fun and exciting part is that Morayo gets it now! I kept telling her during the week that we would go to a pumpkin patch and as I got her ready on Saturday, she asked "we going to the pumki patch mummy?!" Lol! I know for sure she had a blast.

The day went pretty well besides the fact that it was SO hot outside!!! Here are some lots of photos!

HAPPY NEW WEEK!

10 Years Later...

I can't believe I have known him for a decade! Does it feel like ten years? YES... A lot has happened over the years. So many changes and life events, so it does feel like ten years. Lol

I met Tosin my Sophomore year at Georgia Southern University during homecoming at a house party that I went to with my older sis Juliet and our roomy Phoebe. Tosin was no longer a student at Georgia Southern at that point. He was an agbalagba (old person) lurking on campus. Just kidding! Lol! He graduated the previous year in 2003 with his MBA, but came down with his frat brothers for the homecoming festivities. We met at a house party hosted by his fraternity.

Tosin was different. He made my heart smile, our conversations had substance, he was smart and that came with some many times being an a$$(ha!), I loved his drive and passion for life. Everything fell into place when I was with him and I knew in a very short period of time that he was the one I wanted to wake up to every day, have children with, and create memories with as long as we both had breath. I can say that the ten years I've known him have been for good. Over the years, I have respected his opinion on a lot of subject matter and still do. Not being bias because he is my husband, but Tosin has had quite an impact on my life and I've grown so much and learned a lot from him.

Our love story was no fairytale. There were good times and there were bad times but I thank God because everything was made beautiful in His time. Ten years later, he is my husband and the father of our two beautiful children and still the man of my dreams. I cannot imagine my life with any man but him.

Some photos from our engagement shoot...

Cheers to many more!

Natural Hair Journey

I've gotten lots of compliments and questions about my hair recently and so I decided to do an update post on my natural hair journey.

Last year, I did the big chop and blogged about it here. It has been a great journey so far and I am still happy with my decision. Prior to cutting my hair, I mentioned how overwhelmed I got watching YouTube videos and seeing all the unending lists of products all the big time natural ladies used. To date, I have used only five products on my hair.

Shampoo: Shea Moisture
Conditioner: Suave
Extra Virgin Olive Oil (I've had the same bottle since I started)
Eco Styler Gel (I'm using the same tub still)
Shea Moisture Kids Curling Butter Cream (My sis-in-law actually bought this for Morayo but I started using it for my twists. Ha!)

When I first did the bog chop, I washed my hair everyday. These days, I either wash weekly or bi-weekly except when I have braids. To my knowledge, I haven't done anything out of the ordinary or mind blowing to get my hair to where it is now. I'll admit that the up-keep has not been fun, but that's because of my dislike for doing hair. This year in April, about a year after my big chop, I got my hair straightened for the first time.

After washing and blow drying. Side note: My DemDem is all grown up now..

End result...

I know... I was feeling myself a little lot too much! Lol. It has been about six months since I took those photos and my hair has grown some more.

A couple of weeks ago, I posted a family pic and got some questions about my hair. So... yes it is my hair and I didn't use any products to achieve the look. I had about 12 cornrow braids that I took out and my hair turned out looking the way it did. I actually didn't plan to wear my hair how I did. I was going to put my hair in a bun, but as I took out the braids and saw what my hair was looking like, I said to myself "hey girl hey, this is your look to church taaday! LOL. Here is that picture...

Here is my hair length as of last night. It has been 19 months since my big chop. Thanks to hubby for taking the pic. I made him get out of bed. Love you boo!

I straightened it myself for the first time two days ago and the third time total since my big chop. I know I know... split ends. Will handle that soon! Lol

And there you have it. HAPPY FRIDAY!

Say Ahhh...

This morning the kids went to the Dentist for the first time ever. I initially only made an appointment for Morayo but since Demi was with us and they had time for him, they added him in. I was really impressed with the clinic. There was a very lovely play area for the kids and to keep them calm. While in the chair, there were TV screens above them. Morayo watched Frozen with headphones while she got her teeth cleaned. The clinic was very child friendly and I think the kids enjoyed it.

The kids got certificates for their first visit and as I stared at them I thought about scrap booking. I always told myself that my children would have scrapbooks with collectibles and pictures from birth until whenever I cared to stop that I would hand to them eventually. I clearly haven't gotten around to doing it but I have a lot of stuff I've collected along the way. I just need to put it all together. Might make it a winter project. I wouldn't bet on that though...

All good for the next six months!

Sunday Snaps

Hope you are having a good week. On Sunday after church, we took some pictures which I shared on my Instagram and Facebook page.

So in the past I purposely plan for us to coordinate outfits but this past Sunday kinda happened. Believe me! Lol. I started with Morayo first. I opened her closet and saw a red dress she had only worn once, so I decided she would wear it. It was a little bit cooler than usual this past weekend, so when I opened up Demi's closet, I figured a light sweater would be appropriate and I picked out a red and grey stripped sweater without necessarily thinking he would be matching with Mo.

After getting them ready, I walked in to our bedroom and hubby had on a grey suit and a red stripped shirt. I thought to myself... interesting. He probably peeked while I was getting them ready. Ha! Well I jumped in the shower because we were already running late. When I opened my closet, my red dress was the first thing I saw, so I thought why the heck not?! Lol

Someone is cheesing really hard. Lol
