Hubby turned 35 on the 20th and I wanted to do something special to celebrate him since it was a milestone birthday, or at least I think it was. Right? Heck, getting to see your next age up should be a milestone every year. Lol. Random, but since hubby is 5 years older than I am, we will always have milestone birthdays in the same year. Fun!
So hubby is a very big fan of Coldplay and he had been talking forever about wanting to make it to one of their concerts since they were on tour. Being the very sweet and thoughtful wife that I am, I wanted to make it happen so I looked up their tour dates. I was delighted when I saw that they would be in Dallas on the 27th even though it was after his birthday. I planned I would drop the kids off with a friend of mine here and hubby and I would getaway for the weekend. I asked him about his availability and he said he was good to go, so I sent him a planner. Hubby needs a planner for EVERYTHING or else it doesn't exist. I need to get like that because I don't understand my memory these days but let's not get off topic. By the way it was going to be a surprise, so I just wanted him to confirm he would be free. I use surprise very lightly because I knew as soon as I asked him about that weekend he already figured what my plan. Lol! Somehow, an international trip for work started floating around for the weekend we were supposed to go and then he confirmed that the trip was definite. Personally, I was going to plan something else but the man I married had other plans.
Coldplay was going to be in Cali on the 20th, and his mind was made up. He booked our flight out of Kansas City and we flew out on the morning of the 19th. We got there right before noon since Cali is 2hrs ahead, got our rental car and the fun began! Our hotel was pretty awesome. We stayed right by Hollywood and Highland so there was a lot of sightseeing and people watching. Yasss! We had a blast if I must say and we ate really good! Every single restaurant was a winner! The concert was A LOT of fun! I could tell hubby was just really happy and it was a joy to watch his excitement. I've picked up a liking for Coldplay since being married to hubby, so I know a couple of their songs and didn't feel lost. If I'd be honest, it was one of the best concerts I've ever been to not that I've been to that many. Ha! The kids love them too. Their favorite song to listen to is "Adventure of a Lifetime" which they love to call "The Monkey Song" because of the video. Matter of fact that was a play request to dance to yesterday evening when they got home. Lol. Thumps up Hubs!
Beyond the concert and good eating, it was really great to spend some alone time with hubby. I believe this was our first time traveling alone without the kids since we got married. I enjoyed our conversations, the laughter and just having him all to myself uninterrupted! Heck, I felt like it was my birthday too and he surely was the best gift ever! Lol. We both acknowledged it was very refreshing and agreed we should do it more often.
We are so thankful to our wonderful friends the Cokers! We left the kids with them in Kansas City. I've talked about the Cokers on my blog a couple of times. As a matter of fact, I blogged about us spending New Years this year with them here. The kids were having so much fun, it was hard to get them to come to the phone whenever we Face-timed. I had peace of mind knowing they were in really good hands and that meant A LOT to Hubs and I.
