Minnie and Mo!

It has been a little over a year since we moved to Northwest Arkansas, and honestly it has been an exciting journey thus far. For me, part of the reason why the journey has been exciting, is as a result of some of the really good people that I have met. Outside of work, hubby, and the kids, you'll catch me hanging out with my new pal Moji. I met Moji at church and honestly, I don't know how we got so cool, but I really cherish our friendship.

One thing I love about Moji is the fact that she is just so genuine. She is also REALLY funny, and I don't even think she realizes it. I've have literally busted out laughing most days when I read a text from her. I am also amazed at how open she has been with me. I'll give an example... She is currently pursing being an entrepreneur and she shares with me a lot of information that most people wouldn't, especially at such a crucial stage. She has also come to me on several occasions and asked my opinion, not only on her business plan but on other aspects of life as well. I am always very honored that she would even care about what I have to say. I absolutely love her family and they have been a blessing to us.

Prior to getting a job with Walmart, I spent most of my time at Moji's house with MoMo. I was pregnant with Demi. Moji was also expecting her first child and we both worked on the baby's nursery together and it turned out really beautiful. I was going to blog about it and share the pictures but I never got around to doing so. Well here we are over a year later... Moji had her beautiful daughter Morife(another MoMo!) and we celebrated her 1st birthday about three weekends ago. I wanted to make sure to put it up. Better late than never. Lol. It was a Minnie Mouse theme. Here it goes...

How cute is this cake? It was tasty too!

Smash Cake!

Moji was so particular about this outfit. Lol. Turned out cute!

Birthday girl!

Love it!

Mummy Review: Nose Frida

I thought it would be a great idea to start reviewing products that have worked great for me. Basically, if I love it, you'll read about it! So here's to my first review!

The past couple of weeks with the kids have been really difficult. They had ear infections that didn't clear after 10days dose of antibiotics and so, they were put on a second round of another 10days dose. Through all of this, there has been coughing, runny nose, throwing up, and congestion. It was a PAIN! Thankfully they are doing better now.

When I first noticed the congestion, I did my usual saline drops and bulb syringe suction method to clear up the snot and free up their nasal passage. However, if you've ever used the bulb syringe on any kid who doesn't go by the name of Morayo Odesanya, you'll agree with me when I say they HATE it. Morayo was never bothered with me sticking it up her nose. She sat quietly and it almost seemed like she enjoyed it. So weird... With Demi, it is a constant tug of war! And because he is so strong, hubby has to help sometimes. Even though I hold his hands down, as soon as he sees that bulb syringe, he starts shaking his head so I can't catch his nose. It's actually quite comical.

When I took them to their pediatrician weeks back, he mentioned this product called "Nose Frida" that some moms were raving about. I took note of the name but never looked it up. When the kids became congested, it came back to memory and I searched for it online. I watched some videos and then showed it to hubby. We ordered it on Amazon and when it got to the house, you won't believe it, but I took it out of the box, looked at it and put it away. I continued using the bulb syringe.

Last week I decided to bring it out and try it and I used it until they got better! I love, love, love it. The best thing about this product is that it is non invasive. Your baby doesn't feel threatened by the object going up their nose. The Nose Frida stays right at the tip of their nose while you suck on the other end. There is a filter on the end to stop the snot from getting into your mouth. Apparently, some moms were freaked out by snot getting in their mouth. I actually laughed at all the "ewws, I don't want that in my mouth" comments while reading about the product. Where I come from, growing up, my mother would use her mouth to suck that stuff out. I have done it to my babies too. When I see my babies distressed, snot getting in my mouth is the last thing on my mind, but to each his own. Carry on... Lol. The mom I watched said she uses the Frida on her little infant as well as her 4 yr old daughter. So it's not just for little babies. I know we're slowly getting out of the cold season but this is a great product to have.

Nose Frieda retails for $15.00. The package I got on Amazon came with 20 additional filters for about $20.00 So not bad at all!

If you do decide to purchase this product, leave a comment or email me to let me know how it worked for you!

Dems Is 6 Months Old!

Actually, he turned 7 months yesterday but this is his 6months update. Ha!

You are growing so fast and I look at you some days and wish I could hit a pause button and just savor every moment even longer. I love you immensely and let me tell you, yes you are a true mama's boy!

Here's what you're doing now...

You are such a HAPPY baby! I love it. You don't bother me at all and you hardly ever cry. I only hear you cry when you're really hungry and when I leave you to sit alone for longer than you would like.

You smile A LOT! First thing in the morning, several times during the day, at night... I mean always! It's still a toothless smile though. I thought I would see teeth by now. Please don't do what your big sis did (she waited until she was 11 months! Lol).

You weigh 20lbs, 3lbs less than big sis and you wear size 4 diapers, same as big sis. So chubby, but mama loves it, besides when my arms get tired.

You're still on breast milk and formula too. We started you with Gerber solids and some other foods like mashed potatoes which you love! A friend of mine here in NWA is trying to convince me really hard to start giving you Amala and Ewedu (Nigerian food). She actually gave me everything I need to make it. Lol. I think I've bought into it. Now, if my butt will actually make it, you'll be in baby food heaven.

You're so fascinated with light fixtures and I indulge you sometimes.

You're trying so hard to crawl. You try to reach for everything around you. When I put you to sit down these days, you're flat on your belly by the time I get back.

You adore your big sis. You love it when she plays with you. She can get you to smile whenever! It melts my heart seeing you two together. Never ever gets old!!

You love your sleep/nap time. You don't mess with it at all. Whenever there's noise around you and you're sleeping you wake up and give this really nasty look and close your eyes again. Ha!

You love being tickled. You laugh like a grown man whenever we tickle you.

Unlike big sis, you have refused to use a pacifier. I'm thankful I guess...

Your hair is so long and soft and you love it when I run my fingers through and massage your scalp. Lol

You get really noisy these days. Yes Dem Dem... We hear you! Lol

Daddy, mummy, and big sis loves you a whole lot. You are the sunshine of our lives! May God continue to watch over you Demi. Love you past forever!

His Amazing Love

If you're like me, you may have days when you wonder just how much God really loves you. I believe my life is an evidence of not just the love of God but His un-ending Grace. One of my all time favorite preachers to listen to is Bishop T.D Jakes. Most times when I'm at work and I'm crunching down on my numbers, I either listen to worship songs or his messages. Speaking of, it's really crazy how much I've changed what I use to entertain my ears. I wonder if it's because I'm in a different place in life now that comes with growing up or if it's because we really don't have any radio stations out here for black people like me. Lol. Either way, I have no idea what's in rotation these days. Honestly, I don't think it bothers me. Back to Bishop Jakes...

I listened to one of his messages recently that reminded me yet again of the unbelievable love my father in heaven has for me. The message was focused around knowing who you are in God. He briefly mentioned Luke 12:7, which reads "But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows". Now this is a passage I've read/heard/quoted several times but I never thought about it the way Bishop Jakes presented it. That's the beauty of the word of God though, how one passage can have several lessons behind it.

He said God loves us so much that he numbered the hair on our head! Not counted, numbered! If He counted, He would have a total number. However, I'm so valuable to him that He numbered my hair. That means each hair on my head has a number to it. I have this thing I do when my scalp itches. I find the location, narrow it down to a particular strand of hair and I pull it out. Weird I know, but ooh it feels good when that strand comes out. Lol. Anyways, whenever I've done that, God knows that I just pulled out strand number 20,647!!! What kind of love it that?! Am I the only one that never thought about it that way? If you have then you're ahead of me. If you haven't, I want you to know that God really loves you that much.

It doesn't matter what's going on in your life. He KNOWS, He CARES, He LOVES. He is in every detail. Hear me clearly, every last detail. Keep that in mind as you start this new week.
